Job summary

Horry County is seeking a grounds maintenance assistant under supervision to help keep county grounds neat, clean, and safe. You will assist skilled craftsmen in mowing, trimming hedges, planting, debris removal, and general landscape duties across multiple sites.

This position requires a high school diploma and 1–2 years of grounds experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to operate a range of lawn machinery.

Qualifications

• High school education and 1–2 years of grounds maintenance experience.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and pass a criminal background check and drug test.
• Ability to pull and back a long utility trailer.
• Willingness to work outdoors in various weather and hazardous conditions.

Responsibilities

• Mow lawns, trim hedges, edges, and remove debris.
• Shovel, plant, and maintain flowerbeds and landscapes.
• Operate lawn equipment and assist with repairs as needed.
• Complete daily reports and logs of work performed.
• Follow safety rules and wear PPE daily.
