Job summary

Virginia Green is hiring Lawn Care Technicians (Service Leaders) to work outdoors on assigned routes across the Mid-Atlantic. You’ll use hand and powered equipment to apply fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides, and perform aeration and seeding, diagnosing lawn issues and recommending solutions.

You will build relationships with customers, identify service needs, and sell additional services while keeping records and equipment in good condition. Training, growth, and a supportive team await.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Must obtain applicable state Department of Agriculture certification within 30 days of hire.
• Able to drive long distances or an eight to nine-hour shift in a company vehicle (truck/trailer) from 6:30am–5:30pm.
• Operate company vehicle in compliance with laws and company policy.

Responsibilities

• Provide services to all properties on assigned route, either alone or with a crew.
• Apply fertilizer, fungicides, herbicides, and perform aeration and seeding.
• Diagnose lawn issues and recommend solutions.
• Build relationships with customers and identify service needs.
• Sell additional services to existing and prospective customers.
• Maintain accurate service records and equipment, and keep properties clean and safe.
• Assist with training new service leaders.

Day in the Life:

• Work individually or with a crew to provide services to all properties on assigned route
• Using hand and powered equipment, apply fertilizer, fungicides, herbicides, and aeration and seeding for pest and week control in lawns
• Diagnose lawn issues and recommend solutions
• Build relationships with customers and identify service needs
• Sell additional services to existing and prospective customers
• Keep properties clean, safe, and looking their best
• Maintain accurate service records and equipment
• Assist with training new service leaders

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record with 1+ years of driving experience
• Maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Must obtain applicable state Department of Agriculture certification within 30 days of hire
• Be able to drive long distances or an eight to nine-hour shift in company vehicle (truck/trailer)ranging between 6:30am-5:30pm (or until the job is finished)
• Operate company vehicle in compliance with federal, state, local laws, and company policy
• Follow proper safety protocols while working with equipment
• Reliable, self-motivated, and team-oriented
• Comfortable working outdoors in all conditions
• Physical requirements: Standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, pushing, lifting, carrying, and moving objects up to 50 pounds

$19 - $20 an hour

The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and other job-related reasons.
