Job summary

Texas Southern University is seeking a Systems Librarian to manage the Integrated Library Management System (OCLC WorldShare) and coordinate electronic resources for teaching and research. This role drives library operations, including weekend and evening hours, and supports electronic research services for students and faculty.

The position involves teaching two sections of legal research, coordinating IT projects, and collaborating with faculty on electronic resources and web content.

Qualifications

  • JD with two years IT experience or MLS/MLIS/MSIS required.
  • Experience in library operations and academic research environments.
  • Knowledge of electronic resources and library technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the library's integrated library management system, including upgrades.
  • Serve as first point of contact for ILS operation and implementation issues.
  • Participate in IT projects related to library systems and resources.
  • Maintain awareness of trends in library automation and information tech.
  • Oversee evenings/weekends, supervising circulation, reserves, and more.
  • Provide general legal reference and online database searches for patrons.
  • Develop and teach computer-assisted legal research instruction.
  • Evaluate electronic resources for collection development and liaison with vendors.
  • Update law library web pages and assist training student workers.
