Job summary

Qualifications

• Current or prior successful employment as a certified full-time peace officer in good standing in Nevada, equivalent to a Category I or II officer.
• Strong organizational skills with leadership abilities and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and internet resources.
• Ability to read, interpret and apply legal statutes, codes, and regulations; understanding policing standards and adult learning theory.
• Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field; combination of experience, training and education may be used in lieu of above.
• Pre-employment background check is required; willingness to participate in POST Physical Readiness Test (PPRT).

Responsibilities

• Develop and evaluate lesson plans and curriculum addressing NAC mandates for Nevada peace officers.
• Supervise and evaluate instructors for content and performance.
• Coordinate and schedule training areas and resources.
• Develop and instruct specialized and advanced courses for professional development, management and supervision.
• Communicate effectively in written and oral form; direct and participate in physical training sessions as needed.
