Job summary

The City of North Las Vegas seeks a Training Specialist who will conduct analyses to identify organizational training needs and gaps, and design programs to develop competencies aligned with the city’s values of Accountability, Communication, and Teamwork.

Under general direction, the role requires expertise in adult learning, instructional design, and collaboration with stakeholders to achieve workforce development goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Training and Development, Human Resources, or a closely related field.
• Five (5) years of experience in training and development focusing on needs assessment, instructional design, and training delivery.
• Public Sector experience is preferred.
• Equivalency: an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training may be considered.
• Must possess or obtain a valid Nevada state driver’s license.

Job description

Under general direction, conducts comprehensive analyses and assessments of training needs, identifies gaps in competencies, and designs and implements customized training programs to develop individual employee’s skills and abilities that align with the City’s core values of Accountability, Communication, and Teamwork. This position requires a deep understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders to achieve organizational training objectives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Training and Development, Human Resources, or a closely related field.
• Five (5) years of experience in training and development, with a focus on needs assessment, instructional design, and training delivery.
• Public Sector experience is preferred.
• Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education, experience, and training in Learning and Development, Adult Learning and Training, Human Resources Management, or closely related field may be considered.
• Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Nevada state driver’s license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record.

Foreign Education

Applicants using foreign education to meet minimum qualifications must provide a U.S. equivalency evaluation from a current NACES or AICE member. Applicants are responsible for all associated costs.

Work Schedule

Monday through Thursday, 8:00am to 6:00pm. This position is scheduled to work 4 days per week, 9 hours per day (36 hour work week).
