Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years sworn law enforcement experience.
• Currently active or honorably retired law enforcement officer (or federal equivalent).
• Comprehensive understanding of state statutes, constitutional law, de‑escalation tactics, and use‑of‑force case law.
• Exceptional ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and provide actionable feedback to adult learners.

Responsibilities

• Lead adjunct instructors and role-players before and during scenario exercises to ensure consistent execution.
• Oversee the setup, logistics, and teardown of training scenarios and manage training gear inventory.
• Facilitate and evaluate structured, reality‑based scenarios per the academy curriculum and provide debriefings.
• Role‑play when necessary, responding to cadets' communication and tactics.
• Serve as Safety Officer to ensure adherence to safety protocols during scenarios.
• Lead debriefings and guide cadets through critical thinking analyses tied to use‑of‑force law and de‑escalation tactics.
• Review and audit cadet evaluations for objectivity and alignment with standards.
• Act as liaison between adjunct instructors and academy leadership and suggest curriculum updates.
