Job summary

Nevada POST seeks a Training Curriculum Specialist to research, develop, update and deliver POST approved curriculum for Basic and Advanced law enforcement training, ensuring compliance with NAC, legal requirements, and industry standards.

The ideal candidate will be a certified full-time peace officer (Category I or II) with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, strong leadership, and experience in curriculum development, instruction, supervision and program assessment.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field.
Prior full-time peace officer experience at a Nevada Category I or II level.
Pre-employment background check required.
Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, codes and regulations.
Strong organizational and instructional leadership skills.

Responsibilities

Develop and evaluate lesson plans and curriculum addressing NAC mandates for Nevada peace officers.
Supervise and evaluate instructors for content and performance.
Coordinate and schedule training areas and training resources.
Develop and instruct specialized and advanced courses for professional development.
Research trends in law enforcement training and make recommendations.
May direct and participate in basic academy physical training sessions.
