Job summary

Marion County Sheriff's Office in Florida invites applicants to join as Deputy Trainee, a full-time program combining Law Enforcement Academy work and in-house training under supervision. You will complete coursework, meet fitness requirements, and ultimately qualify for CJSTC certification; upon graduation, you commit to three years of service with the Sheriff's Office.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Proficient in reading, writing and speaking English.
• Must be a minimum of 19 years of age.
• Ability to be cleared to register as a student at a Florida CJSTC approved training center.
• Successfully complete the MCSO competitive selection process including medical, physical, drug, and psychological assessments.
• Maintain a valid Florida driver’s license.
• Successfully perform duties as a full-time student in a Basic Police Recruit School in Florida.

Responsibilities

• Abide by the Law Enforcement Code of Ethics.
• Abide by the MCSO Code of Conduct and all laws.
• Maintain passing grades and fitness during the Academy.
• Maintain professional bearing in classroom, field training, and community.
• Perform related duties including emergency activations as determined by the Sheriff.
