Job summary

Marion County Sheriff's Office is seeking a Detention Deputy Trainee to enter a full-time, formal academy and in-house training focused on corrections and detention. Training occurs under daily supervision by experienced deputies and academy instructors, with progression through the Detention Deputy Field Training Program.

You will complete coursework, maintain passing grades, and meet physical fitness requirements, with certification exams after graduation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be 19+ by graduation from the Detention Deputy Academy.
• Clearance to register as a student at The College of Central Florida.
• Successful completion of the MCSO competitive selection process including medical, physical, drug screening and psychological assessments.
• Ability to maintain physical condition for duties as a Detention Deputy Trainee.
