The Operational Readiness organization within the Weapons Production Directorate at Los Alamos National Laboratory (TRIAD) is looking for an exceptional Production Control Specialist to join the Supply Chain Management Group (SCL-2). In this role, you will effectively and compliantly manage Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Laundry at TA-55, RLUOB, RLW, TWF, RANT/WCRRF and CMR for the Associate Lab Director for Weapons Production (ALDWP).

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Utilize multiple inventory management systems to maintain and verify inventory levels.
  • Manage centralized distribution and assignment of PPE lockers.
  • Ensure change rooms are decluttered, organized, and stocked daily.
  • Comply with institution-controlled storage procedures, P330-11, 12, and 13.
  • Locate, pull, and stage material for programmatic related activities.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet areas, and workstations neat.
  • Maintaining a clean receiving area.
  • Comply with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Work cohesively in a team environment.
  • Provide high level of attention to detail.
  • Exhibit strong organizational skills.
Salary Range:

While the posted salary range for this position is broad, it is highly unusual for selected applicants to be hired at the top end of the range and more common for selected candidates to grow into the full salary band over time.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Education/Experience: Position requires a minimum of 2 years of related experience.
  • Material Management:
    • Demonstrated ability to manage material in accordance with applicable quality assurance and industry standards.
  • Customer Service:
    • Demonstrated experience and excellence in interacting with customers in a customer service-related setting.
  • Business Systems:
    • Demonstrated computer skills and experience with Inventory Control and Material Tracking systems.
    • Proficient in various software suites, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Access
  • Communication:
    • Demonstrated experience and excellence in interacting and communicating both written and orally with customers in a customer service-related setting.
    • Ability to proactively work to assist others in achieving the organization's objectives.
    • Ability to communicate findings and make recommendations.
  • Organizational Skills:
    • Possess high attention to detail including strong organizational skills, analytical thinking, observation skills, and problem-solving skills.
    • Proven ability to multi-task and adjust to the workings of a dynamic environment.
  • Work Environment:
    • Ability to work cohesively in a team environment which encourages collaboration with fellow team members to contribute to the efficiency of the facility.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with logistics and production planning concepts.
  • Experience managing material in a nuclear environment with the ability to learn basic safety requirements needed to work within a Radiological Facility.
  • An awareness and willingness to learn supply chain management practices.
  • The ability to obtain a forklift license.
  • An active DOE Q-level clearance.
Essential Job Functions:

Ability to lift a minimum of 40 lbs.

Work Location:

The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Work Schedule:

This position may/will require 24/7 coverage, which could/will involve working a shift/weekend schedule. Employees may be eligible for the shift differential pay when assigned by their manager. Shift/weekend assignments are at the discretion of the manager.

Position Commitment:

Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2: Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q

This position requires a Q clearance and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test:

The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
