Job summary

Catholic Health Services in Miami is seeking a Laundry Technician to operate laundering machines, wash, dry, fold and sort items for residents and patients according to schedule.

Responsibilities include labeling, mending, counting, delivering to units, maintaining clean work areas, and following infection control safety policies. Flexibility to float to other units and participate in training is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge of computer office software preferred.
• Must be able to read, write and understand English.

• Maintain mandatory skill updates.

Summary & Objective

The Technician, Laundry tends laundering machines to wash, dry, fold and sort soiled articles such as clothes, linens, towels and other items as needed and/or requested by the resident and/or patient.

Essential Functions

• Collect, wash, dry, sort and return personal clothes for resident and/or patient per schedule.
• Labels all unlabeled resident and/or patient’s clothing and personal linen.
• Mends torn personal clothing articles.
• Sorts and counts articles to verify quantities on laundry list.
• Fills linen carts and delivers to appropriate unit.
• Completes pressing process for appropriate items or as directed.
• Keeps work area sanitized, clean and in order at all times.

Requirements

Knowledge & Experience Requirements

• High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Previous experience in a health care setting preferred
• Must have knowledge of computer office software
• Must be able to read, write and understand the English language.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 250+ pounds, walk, climb stair or ladders, stand on feet for extended periods of time, etc.
• The employee may work in outside weather condition and may be exposed to fumes and airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
