GEO Secured Services in North Carolina is seeking a Laundry Supervisor to oversee all facility laundry operations and detainee worker scheduling. You will manage washing, sorting, and distribution of laundry while maintaining safety, security, and efficiency.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2 years laundry experience in a large commercial establishment; 1 year in lead role.
• Ability to motivate and lead teams; work well with others and make decisions.
• Knowledge of receiving, sorting, washing, ironing, finishing, and distributing laundry at scale.
• Familiarity with safety protocols, equipment maintenance, and basic inventory control.

Responsibilities

• Supervise pickup, sorting, and distribution of laundry to detainees.
• Direct the work of department staff and oversee detainee workers.
• Train detainee workers and monitor security in a closed environment.
• Complete inspections, reports, weekly inventories, and cost per-load documentation.
• Inspect washers, dryers, clothing, bags, towels, and linen for repair or disposal.
• Order supplies and maintain organized purchasing system.
• Maintain inventory records and provide staff with up-to-date stocked item lists.
• Assist in periodic inventories and distribute supplies as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Summary: The Laundry Supervisor supervises all facility laundry area functions including receiving, cleaning, maintenance of the machines and distribution of laundry.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• The Laundry Supervisor supervises the pick-up, sorting or clothing and distribution of laundry to detainees.
• The Laundry Supervisor directs the work of the staff within the department.
• The Laundry Supervisor oversees detainees in a closed environment, which includes the initial training of the detainee workers prior to actual work performed. Maintains a running count of detainees in the laundry area to maintain department security. Maintains a safe working environment and continually trains detainees in safety awareness.
• The Laundry Supervisor completes maintenance inspections, end-of-shift reports, weekly inventories, cost per-load documentation and other required reports and reports to management.
• Performs required inspections of industrial washers and dryers.
• The Laundry Supervisor routinely inspects clothing, laundry bags, towels and linen for repair and/or disposal.
• Orders supplies based upon approved facility lists. Plans for purchasing supplies from the development of an organized purchasing system.
• The Laundry Supervisor maintains an inventory system that accurately determines quantity on hand, purchased, and sold.
• Provides staff with an up-to-date list of items stocked in the warehouse. Receives and properly stores all supplies and ensures appropriate housekeeping standards are met.
• The Laundry Supervisor assists in conducting periodic inventories. Distributes supplies when required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
• Two (2) years of laundry experience in a large commercial establishment in the operation of laundry equipment and machinery, one (1) year of which shall have been in a lead worker capacity.
• Must exhibit leadership qualities to gain the respect of all employees. Must have the ability and desire to work in a cooperative manner and to make decisions.
• Knowledge of the principles, procedures, and equipment used in receiving, sorting, washing, ironing, finishing, and distributing laundry in large quantities
• Knowledge of laundry sanitation and safety measures used in operating, cleaning, and care of equipment and machinery.
• Knowledge of preparing and using bleaches, soaps, starches, and disinfectant compounds.
• Knowledge on methods used to remove stains from various materials.
• Knowledge on the maintenance and repair of laundry equipment and machinery.
• Knowledge on the of purchase orders for equipment and machinery.
• Ability to motivate and lead teams.
• Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
