Position Title: Laundry Attendant
Immediate Supervisor: Executive Housekeeping Manager
Major Function
Maintains the laundry and appropriate facilities in a clean and orderly manner. Follows approved folding techniques allowing the linen to cure prior to placing back into service.
Essential Functions
- Provide the highest quality of service to the guest at all times.
- Receive soiled linens by bag, cart, or chute from the floors.
- Sort articles by kind, color, and degree of soil.
- Inspect all laundry and linens and record all damaged or stained items.
- Operate washers and dryers properly, ensuring they are on the correct cycles for the type of linen or terry being washed or dried.
- Pre-spot stained linen and terry before re-washing.
- Load linen in washer, unload washer when complete, and load into dryers.
- Maintain productivity standards.
- Remove linen immediately from dryers and fold to prevent wrinkles.
- Fold linen according to proper standards, adhering to no iron laundry procedures.
- Place folded linen on marked shelves and transport to floor linen rooms in a timely manner.
- Maintain a well-organized, neat laundry room.
- Check washing machine drains to prevent clogging.
- Complete maintenance forms when needed and inform management of malfunctions or problems immediately.
- Damp mop laundry floor daily.
- Clean lint traps after each load.
- Wipe down all machines daily and maintain equipment as per manufacturer’s procedures, e.g., remove lint from dryers as needed.
- Empty and turn off all machines at the end of shift.
- Respond to guest requests such as delivering housekeeping supplies (e.g., linens, cots) promptly.
- Communicate effectively with guests in English to provide expected service levels.
- Wear proper uniform at all times according to Standards of Appearance.
- Lift and carry up to 40 pounds; push and pull up to 80 pounds.
- Have a thorough knowledge of emergency procedures.
- Practice safety standards at all times and report hazardous conditions immediately.
- Adhere to all work rules, procedures, and policies outlined in the Associate Handbook.
- Perform other duties as assigned and capable of performing.
