Job summary

PENN Entertainment in Detroit is seeking a housekeeping/linen associate to load, unload, sort, and fold towels and linens, delivering them to hotel floors and keeping closets organized. You will identify stained items and monitor equipment, while maintaining records and adhering to safety standards.

Starting salary: $17.85/hour, with health coverage, 401(k) matching, and performance bonus as part of Total Rewards. Flexible shifts and day-to-day responsibilities may vary by position.

Qualifications

• Six months' experience in housekeeping, laundry, or environmental services preferred.
• Must be able to communicate in English, both oral and written.
• Ability to stand, walk, and lift heavy items as part of duties.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload washers and dryers according to guidelines.
• Sort, fold, and transport linens and towels as required.
• Identify stained items and determine repair or discard status.
• Monitor equipment for malfunctions and report issues.
• Deliver linens to hotel floors and maintain closet organization.
• Maintain accurate records of laundered items and inventory levels.
• Comply with health and safety standards and participate in meetings.

Essential Functions

• Loads and unloads washers per machine guidelines
• Loads and unloads dryers per machine guidelines
• Stretches tangled sheets
• Process towels through towel folder
• Manually folds towels and bedspreads as needed
• Runs sheets through the ironer at the recommended speed
• Catches (collects) sheets and other linen and stacks them in appropriate carts
• Sorts and soaks stained linen and terry in soaking bins
• Identify stained or damaged items and determine status for repair, spot treatment, rewash, or discard
• Watches and reports malfunctioning problems with all equipment
• Transports linen and terry from sort and storage location to washers
• Understands how to safely use all equipment at the required productivity level
• Remove lint and debris from all dryer screens, dry cleaning filters, and drain trap after each load and at the end of shift
• Deliver linens and other supplies to hotel floors
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of floor closets
• Monitor and control supplies
• Maintain accurate records of items laundered
• Maintain proper par levels for all linen and terry
• Comply with all health and safety standards
• Attend regular meetings as scheduled
• Other job-related duties as assigned

• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing in English
• Ability to make progress on multiple assignments under time constraints
• Ability to express ideas or make recommendations concerning job related issues
• Ability to learn specific job duties and complete work assignments
• Maintain knowledge of basic concepts and techniques
• Must be available to work any day of the week and any shift.
• Ability to stand, walk, lift at least 50 pounds, carry, push/pull carts up to 150 pounds, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach
• Manual dexterity to include handling linen and garments
• Ability to differentiate variations in color
• Ability to follow direction/instruction
• Possess pleasant demeanor when interacting with team members and guests

Six (6) months experience housekeeping, laundry, or environmental services preferred.
