Job summary

The Rescue Mission of Roanoke is seeking a part-time Men's Shelter/Laundry Assistant to support laundry operations for shelters and the kitchen. This role reports to the Director of Shelter Services and requires reliability for two shifts: 2:30am–11:30am and 6:00pm–3:00am, including holidays.

Responsibilities include operating commercial laundry equipment, supervising volunteers, and assisting in shelter tasks while maintaining safety and compassionate service.

Men's Shelter/Laundry Assistant serves to provide for the safe operation of the Rescue Mission's laundry services ministry, which operates 365 days a year. Supports the laundry needs of the Shelters and Kitchen. Assist the Shelter Supervisors in the shelter as needed.

Reports to: Director of Shelter Services.

Typical Schedule - Part Time: 2 positions are open for these 2 shifts.

Sunday, Tuesday, Saturday - 2:30am - 11:30am; holidays as scheduled.

Wednesday, Friday, Saturday - 6:00pm - 3:00am; holidays as scheduled.

Compensation: $16.50/hour (non-exempt/hourly).

• Demonstrates a genuine interest in the safety and well-being of our guests and team members.
• Understanding of volunteer engagement and ability to utilize and appreciate volunteers in daily tasks.
• Strong work ethic and commitment to work as scheduled to include holidays and weekends as assigned.
• Strong listening, as well as written & verbal communication skills to execute instructions, keep others informed and exhibit professionalism.
• Demonstrated attention to detail/strong organizational skills to assist with multiple daily assignments and special projects.
• Ambitious to exceed expectations.
