We are hiring a part-time weekend Laundry Assistant to join our dynamic care team at South Shore Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center in Rockland!

Shift is 6a-2p on weekends. Weekly pay at $16 an hour.

As a member of our housekeeping team, you perform the day-to-day activities of the Laundry Department to ensure that the laundry department is maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary manner.

Education and Experience:

• No education required, on-the-job training provided. A minimum of one (1) year experience in laundry operations preferred, but not necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Meet the laundry needs of the facility.
• Ensure laundry process completion and delivery of adequate linen levels, in a timely way.
• Assure that all laundry machinery, equipment are in a safe and efficient working condition.
• Maintains chemicals under safe conditions at all times.
• Remove torn, worn, soiled linen or clothing from inventory.
• Mend and iron as necessary.
• Complies with privacy practices and protects residents’ health information.
• Other duties assigned by managerial team.

Specific Requirements:

• The ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such actions.
• Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.
• Must be knowledgeable of laundry practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing laundry functions in the long-term care facility.
• Must possess a willingness to work harmoniously with and supervise professional and non-professional personnel.
• Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of laundry areas, must perform regular inspections of laundry areas for sanitation, order, and safety.
• Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.
• Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing laundry practices.
• Must be able to relate information concerning a resident’s condition/incident.
