Job summary

Journey is seeking a Laundry Aide to maintain cleanliness and support resident services in our facility. You will perform laundry tasks, sort and wash items, and ensure timely distribution of clean laundry to residents daily.

The role requires strict adherence to infection control policies, use of PPE, and collaboration with nursing staff to meet residents' daily needs.

  • Maintains clean and organized laundry areas and follows daily schedules.
  • Reports equipment malfunctions to supervisor promptly.

Responsibilities

  • Carries out all laundry duties as directed by supervisor according to department policies.
  • Ensures daily work/cleaning schedules are followed.
  • Ensures all laundry equipment is used safely and kept in safe condition.
  • Maintains privacy and sensitivity to residents' needs.
  • Coordinates daily laundry services with nursing services.
  • Sorts, washes, and distributes clean laundry to residents.
  • Monitors detergent and fabric softener levels and reports shortages.
  • Follows proper chemical handling and safety procedures.
  • Keeps work area free of hazards and reports equipment malfunctions.
  • Returns found items to supervisor and reports supply needs.

Job description

  • Carriesout all laundryduties as directed bysupervisoraccording to required department policies and procedures.
  • Ensuresthat daily work/cleaning schedules are followed.
  • Ensuresthat all laundryequipment is correctly and safely used and kept in a safe condition. Reports anyequipmentdefect to theSupervisor/Maintenance Director.
  • Practices sensitivity to the privacy and individual needs of the residents.
  • Adheres to infection control policies at all times.
  • Adheres to correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Ensures all necessary documentation is completed daily.
  • Coordinates daily laundry services in collaboration with nursing services when performing routine assignments.
  • Performs specific/assigned tasksin accordance withdaily work assignments and established laundry procedures.
  • Ensures that an adequate supply of laundry/linen supplies aremaintainedin designated areas to meet the residents’ daily needs.
  • Collects, sorts, and weighs soiled laundry, linen, clothing, etc. and places items in theappropriate containersor assigned areas.
  • Monitor detergent, fabric softener, and other laundry product levels, and report any shortages.
  • Sorts soiled laundry, linen, clothing, etc., and separate items that need special stain removal or treatment.
  • Sorts, counts, and washes soiled laundry, linen, clothing, etc.,in accordance withestablished procedures.
  • Presses/irons clothing as instructed.
  • Folds, counts, stacks, hangs, and distributes clean laundry, linen, clothing, etc. to residents daily or as instructed.
  • Assures that clean laundry, linen, clothing, etc., is distributed to designated areas during emergency conditions.
  • Ensures that floors are clean, swept, dusted, and damp/wet mopped in laundry room.
  • Remove any dust, dirt, grease, etc., from equipment or floor surfacesutilizingproper cleaning/disinfecting solutions.
  • Discard any waste/trash into proper receptacles.
  • Keeps work area(s) free of hazardous conditions such as spills, excess carts, supplies, equipment, etc.
  • Reportsequipment malfunctions or breakdowns to the supervisor.
  • Ensures equipment is clean andproperly storedat the end of the shift.
  • Follows proper procedures when mixing chemicals, disinfectants, and solutions used in the work area.
  • Complies withappropriate safety and hygiene measures at all times to protect residents and themselves.
  • Reports any complaints of missing property to the supervisor.
  • Turns in any found items to the supervisor.
  • Informs the supervisor of any supply needs.
  • Reports any occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and/or hazardous chemicalsin accordance withfacility policy.
  • Other duties as assigned within the scope of practice and abilities.
