Job summary

Journey is seeking a dedicated laundry attendant to support resident care in a healthcare settings with a strong emphasis on cleanliness and safety.

You will follow established policies, maintain daily schedules, and ensure proper use of equipment and PPE, while protecting resident privacy and participating in infection control practices.

Responsibilities

• Carries out all laundry duties as directed by supervisor according to required department policies and procedures.
• Ensures that daily work/cleaning schedules are followed.
• Ensures that all laundry equipment is correctly and safely used and kept in a safe condition; reports equipment defect to the Supervisor/Maintenance Director.
• Maintains privacy and respects the residents' individuality.
• Adheres to infection control policies and PPE requirements.
• Completes daily documentation.
• Coordinates daily laundry services with nursing services when performing routine assignments.
• Performs tasks in accordance with daily work assignments and established laundry procedures.
• Maintains adequate supply of laundry/linen in designated areas.
• Collects, sorts, weighs soiled laundry and places items in appropriate containers.
• Monitors detergent and other products; reports shortages.
• Sorts, counts, and washes soiled laundry.
• Presses/irons clothing as instructed.
• Distributes clean laundry to residents daily or as instructed.
• Ensures clean laundry is distributed during emergencies.
• Keeps laundry floors clean and safe.
• Removes dust and disinfects equipment and floors.
• Discards waste properly.
• Keeps work areas free of hazards.
• Reports equipment malfunctions to supervisor.
• Ensures equipment is cleaned and stored after shift.
• Follows safe chemical handling procedures and hygiene measures.
• Reports missing property and found items to supervisor.
• Notifies supervisor of supply needs.
• Reports occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals per policy.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job description

• Adheres to infection control policies at all times.
• Adheres to correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
• Ensures all necessary documentation is completed daily.
• Coordinates daily laundry services in collaboration with nursing services when performing routine assignments.
• Performs specific/assigned tasksin accordance withdaily work assignments and established laundry procedures.
• Ensures that an adequate supply of laundry/linen supplies aremaintainedin designated areas to meet the residents’ daily needs.
• Collects, sorts, and weighs soiled laundry, linen, clothing, etc. and places items in theappropriate containersor assigned areas.
• Monitor detergent, fabric softener, and other laundry product levels, and report any shortages.
• Sorts soiled laundry, linen, clothing, etc., and separate items that need special stain removal or treatment.
• Sorts, counts, and washes soiled laundry, linen, clothing, etc.,in accordance withestablished procedures.
• Presses/irons clothing as instructed.
• Folds, counts, stacks, hangs, and distributes clean laundry, linen, clothing, etc. to residents daily or as instructed.
• Assures that clean laundry, linen, clothing, etc., is distributed to designated areas during emergency conditions.
• Ensures that floors are clean, swept, dusted, and damp/wet mopped in laundry room.
• Remove any dust, dirt, grease, etc., from equipment or floor surfacesutilizingproper cleaning/disinfecting solutions.
• Discard any waste/trash into proper receptacles.
• Keeps work area(s) free of hazardous conditions such as spills, excess carts, supplies, equipment, etc.
• Reportsequipment malfunctions or breakdowns to the supervisor.
• Ensures equipment is clean andproperly storedat the end of the shift.
• Follows proper procedures when mixing chemicals, disinfectants, and solutions used in the work area.
• Complies withappropriate safety and hygiene measures at all times to protect residents and themselves.
• Reports any complaints of missing property to the supervisor.
• Turns in any found items to the supervisor.
• Informs the supervisor of any supply needs.
• Reports any occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and/or hazardous chemicalsin accordance withfacility policy.
• Other duties as assigned within the scope of practice and abilities.
