Job summary

Maya Hotels is seeking a Laundry Attendant for the Hilton Garden Inn Gastonia in Gastonia, NC. You will sort, process and launder hotel linens, towels and uniforms to the highest cleanliness standards, and operate industrial laundry equipment safely.

This role requires attention to detail, physical stamina and teamwork with housekeeping. Prior laundry experience is preferred; training is provided. We offer medical benefits, 401K, hotel discounts and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior experience in laundry operations preferred.
• Familiarity with industrial laundry equipment and stain removal techniques.
• Ability to identify stains and quality issues in linens.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and work in warm conditions.
• Strong time management and ability to work efficiently.
• Team player with ability to work independently.
• Basic communication with team and supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Sort and process hotel linens, uniforms, towels, and laundry items.
• Operate industrial washing machines, dryers, and presses safely.
• Identify and treat stains before laundering.
• Fold, stack, and package laundered items to hotel standards.
• Maintain inventory of linens and supplies.
• Inspect items for quality; report damages.
• Follow safety protocols and report equipment issues.
• Collaborate with housekeeping and maintenance teams.
• Follow hotel policies including lost and found handling.

Job Description:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Sorting and Processing: Sort, classify, and process all hotel linens, uniforms, towels, and laundry items according to established guidelines. Inspect stains, damages, or necessary repairs before laundering.
• Operating Laundry Equipment: Operate industrial washing machines, dryers, pressers, and other laundry equipment efficiently and safely. Follow proper procedures for loading and unloading laundry, adjusting machine settings, and using laundry chemicals.
• Stain Treatment: Identify and treat stains on different fabrics using appropriate stain removal techniques and products before laundering.
• Folding & Packaging:Fold, stack, and package laundered items neatly according to hotel standards to ensure a professional and presentable appearance.
• Inventory Management: Maintain an accurate inventory of linens, uniforms, and laundry supplies. Track stock levels and promptly report shortages or damages to the supervisor.
• Quality Control: Inspect laundered items to meet the hotel’s quality standards. Replace or repair damaged or worn-out items as necessary.
• Safety and Maintenance: Follow all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe work environment. Report any malfunctioning equipment or maintenance issues to the supervisor.
• Teamwork: Collaborate with housekeeping and maintenance teams to ensure smooth workflow. Assist in other housekeeping tasks during peak periods as needed.
• Adhere to Policies: Follow hotel policies and procedures, including proper handling of lost and found items, confidentiality, and sanitation standards.

Education, Skills and Abilities:

• Education:High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience:Prior experience in laundry operations or a similar role is preferred.
• Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with industrial laundry equipment, stain removal techniques, and laundry chemicals.
• Attention to Details:Ability to identify stains, damage, and quality issues in linens.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to perform repetitive tasks, lift and carry heavy laundry items, and work in warm conditions.
• Organizational Skills:Strong time management and ability to work efficiently.
• Team Player: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with hotel staff.
• Communication: Basic communication skills to interact effectively with team members and supervisors.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk and bend for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 30lbs.
• Comfortable working in a warm, humid environment due to laundry equipment.
• Ability to perform repetitive motions such as folding, loading, and unloading machines.
