Job summary

Blue Origin on Space Coast, FL, is seeking an experienced Flight Operations and Launch Safety Engineer. You will lead planning, execution, and continuous improvement of launch, landing, and recovery operations across programs, ensuring rigorous risk mitigation and safe, repeatable operations for reusable launch systems.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in flight/launch operations, strong safety mindset, and a proven ability to develop procedures and real-time flight rules.

Qualifications

• BS in engineering (Aerospace/Mechanical/Electrical/System/Marine/Naval Architecture/Industrial) from an accredited university.
• 5+ years in flight operations, test ops, range/launch safety, mission control, marine/aviation ops, or similar environments.
• Proven ability to write/exeute technical procedures, checklists, or work instructions in English.
• Lead hazardous/critical operations with a strong safety mindset.
• Willingness to support non-standard hours and field deployments.

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and improve flight, launch, landing, and recovery operations for Blue Origin vehicles.
• Develop and maintain operations products: procedures, checklists, flight rules, guides, playbooks, contingencies.
• Perform hazard identification, risk assessments, and launch safety analyses.
• Coordinate with systems engineering, vehicle design, ground systems, marine/aviation assets, test, and mission management for readiness across lifecycle.
• Define/validate operational requirements for flight/ground equipment and recovery systems.
• Support mission readiness activities: simulations, readiness reviews, go/no-go criteria, launch commit/abort processes.
