Job summary

Impulse Space in Redondo Beach, CA is seeking an Avionics Ground Systems Engineer (Electrical) to develop and integrate ground systems interfacing with flight avionics and vehicle networks.

You will own hardware lifecycle, define interfaces, design rack-level equipment, and collaborate with avionics, RF, propulsion, software and test teams to deliver reliable data acquisition and control solutions. This role suits engineers who enjoy hands-on hardware and fast-paced environments.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Eng.
• 2+ years designing ground support equipment or avionics hardware
• Strong fundamentals in electrical design, signal integrity, grounding, EMI/EMC
• Familiarity with Ethernet, RS-422, CAN and TCP/IP networking

Responsibilities

• Own hardware lifecycle from architecture to deployment
• Define electrical architectures for ground support equipment
• Design rack-level equipment, harnesses, enclosures, and interfaces
• Develop and troubleshoot data acquisition and control interfaces with flight hardware
• Perform system-level electrical testing and fault isolation
• Support vehicle test operations and launch campaigns
• Create schematics and wiring documentation
• Collaborate with avionics, propulsion, software, test and operations teams
