Job summary

Impulse Space in Redondo Beach is seeking a Senior Avionics Ground Systems Engineer (Electrical) to lead development of robust electrical ground systems interfacing with flight avionics and vehicle networks.

You will own hardware from concept through deployment, coordinating across avionics, RF, propulsion, software, and test teams to ensure safe, scalable, and mission-ready data acquisition and control solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering.
• 5+ years designing, building, and deploying electrical ground support equipment or avionics integration hardware.
• Strong understanding of electrical design fundamentals including signal integrity, grounding, EMI/EMC, and power distribution.
• 1+ years specifying, procuring, integrating, and testing electrical, instrumentation, networking, and computing hardware.
• Familiarity with aerospace or industrial communication protocols (Ethernet, RS-422, CAN) and networking (TCP/IP, serial).

Responsibilities

• Own hardware through the full lifecycle from architecture to deployment.
• Develop electrical architectures for ground support equipment including power, instrumentation, and data acquisition.
• Design rack-level equipment, harnesses, enclosures, and vehicle interface hardware.
• Develop and troubleshoot interfaces between ground systems and flight hardware.
• Perform system-level electrical testing, integration, and fault isolation.
• Support vehicle test operations and launch campaigns.
