Job summary

Cambridge Public Schools is seeking a Latin Jazz Band Director for the Amigos School. This part-time role leads the after-school Latin Jazz Band, focusing on improvisation, ensemble performance, and Latin Jazz styles.

You will mentor 6th–8th grade students, coordinate rehearsals, and arrange performances with school partners. Proficiency in Spanish is required for instruction and communication with students and families.

Qualifications

• Direct and teach musicians in upper school (6th–8th grade) at Amigos School.
• Must speak Spanish and be able to teach in Spanish.
• Coordinate rehearsals and learning in Latin Jazz music.
• Care for instruments and ensure instrument maintenance.
• Create and commit to a full year of rehearsals with performances.

Responsibilities

• Direct the Latin Jazz Band at Amigos School for after-school program.
• Lead rehearsals, develop improvisation and ensemble skills.
• Plan and coordinate performances and concerts with the school.
• Collaborate with Visual & Performing Arts team.
