Job summary

SMS group USA is seeking a Lathe Operator to set up and operate engine lathes and accessories, performing a variety of operations on rolls and parts to meet QA standards. The role includes setting up a horizontal boring mill for complex machining and running CNC programs with Fanuc/Mazatrol controllers.

Night shift hours are 7pm to 7am, on-site in Taylor, MI. The ideal candidate will read micrometers and blueprints, calculate tolerances, and record measurements while following established

Qualifications

• 2–5 years CNC Lathe experience or equivalent.
• Certification in Fanuc/Mazatrol controllers preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate engine lathe and accessories to produce rolls and parts to spec.
• Set up and operate horizontal boring mill for precise machining.
• Load and run CNC programs on Fanuc/Mazatrol controllers.
• Read micrometers and blueprints; record measurements and tolerances.
• Follow instructions and established procedures to ensure quality.

Summary

They will also be required to set up and operate horizontal boring mill and accessories to perform complex and precise machining for components and parts expeditiously, meeting quality assurance requirements. They will operate and know the functions of Fanuc/Mazatrol controllers, load and run CNC programs. This position will be for our night shift from 7pm to 7am.

• Read micrometers and other measuring devices as well as blueprints
• Calculate tolerances from blueprints and convert to/from metric/standard
• Use precision measuring tools and record measurements and pertinent info as required
• Follow instructions and established procedures
