Job summary

SMS group is seeking a CNC Machinist to set up and operate lathes and mills to manufacture rolls and other parts. The role requires reading blueprints, measuring with precision tools, and maintaining a clean, safe work area in a full-time capacity in Mokena, IL.

Candidates should be comfortable with both CNC and manual machines, able to rig heavy equipment, and willing to train others. A strong safety mindset and attendance are essential for this team-oriented shop environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints/drawings.
• Set up and operate CNC and manual machinery in metalworking.
• Converting metric and standard measurements.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate lathes, mills and accessories.
• Perform operations on rolls and other parts to meet QA requirements.
• Complete SOP travelers and document daily activities.
• Maintain an organized and clean work area.
• Rig heavy machinery and equipment for overhead crane operations.

and sleep plants across the globe with a strong technical services/machine shop network in North America.

Summary

The CNC Machinist will set up and operate lathes, mills and accessories to perform a variety of operations on rolls

and other parts to meet quality assurance requirements.

The right candidate will:

• Be a safety minded person who enjoys hands on work.
• Ability to set up and operate both CNC and manual machinery for use in metal working applications.
• Complete SOP travelers and document daily activities.
• Interpret assembly and blue prints drawings.
• Follow proper safety precautions.
• Must be courteous and work well with others.
• Ability to properly rig heavy machinery and equipment for use with overhead crane.
• Ability to train new or other employees to perform same job responsibilities
• Maintain an organized and clean work area.
• Drug free, safety minded and maintain an excellent attendance record

What you'll need:

• Converting metric and standard measurements.
• Basic Trigonometry functions.
• Ability to use and read precise measuring tools.
• Ability to learn and understand critical processes and operations in assigned areas.
• HS Diploma or equivalent
