SMS group Gary is seeking a CNC Machinist for an apprenticeship track to advance skills in metalworking. The role involves loading/unloading CNC Lathe, setting up machines, and ensuring parts meet blueprint specifications.

The right candidate will operate CNC and manual machinery, read blueprints, document daily activities, and report any non-conformances. Safety and teamwork are emphasized in a collaborative shop environment.

Qualifications

• 6 months CNC Machining experience or more.
• Ability to convert metric and standard measurements.
• Ability to read precise measuring tools.
• HR diploma or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC and manual machinery for metalworking jobs.
• Program required offsets to maintain blueprint specs and document results.
• Interpret assembly blueprints and drawings; follow safety procedures.
• Keep a clean, organized work area and communicate non-conformances to supervision.

The CNC Machinist will be responsible for loading/unloading CNC Lathe. Set up of machine including true up of chuck jaws, program required offsets to maintain blueprint specifications, complete appropriate dimensional documentation.

The Right Candidate Will

• Ability to set up and operate both CNC and manual machinery for use in metal working applications. Experience with G-code and Mazatrol is a plus but not requiredComplete SOP travelers and document daily activities, advise supervisor of product non-conformance. Interpret assembly and blueprints drawings. Follow proper safety precautions. Must be courteous and work well with others.Ability to properly rig heavy machinery and equipment for use with overhead crane.Maintain an organized and clean work area. Drug free and safety minded
