Job description

CNC Lathe Operator

Aerospace & Defense Manufacturing

Location: 3617 E La Salle St, Phoenix, AZ 85040 (40th St and Southern)

Shift: Day shift or Night Shift

REQUIRED: Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship or Valid Permanent Resident status is required.

Responsibilities:
  • Setup & operate to produce high precision aerospace components on ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
  • Perform daily machine maintenance (checking fluid levels, cleaning out chips, etc.).
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Manage tools, enter offsets to compensate for tool wear, and replace worn or damaged tools (inserts, boring bars, etc.).
  • Adhere to all safety standards and protocols, understand industry buy-off requirements, company-specific handling & FOD requirements, product identification, and properly complete company paperwork (MOT, Inspection Travelers, Job Sheets, etc.).
  • Maintain correct part counts on the MOT for the operations performed.
  • Hold tolerances of .0002” - .0005” while maintaining high productivity.
  • Work independently and operate multiple machines as needed.
  • Identify process improvements and communicate suggestions to management.
  • Report job-related issues/questions regarding parts, programs, or inspections to lead personnel for resolution.
  • Report machine collisions and malfunctions promptly.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Familiarity with Mazak machines is a plus.
  • Proficient with standard measuring and inspection equipment (indicating micrometers, bore gauges, Sunnen gauges, test indicators).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications including GD&T, symbols, notes, and tolerances.
  • Understanding of G & M codes and machine programming is a plus.
  • Experience with holding tight tolerances (.0002” - .0005”) and surface finishes of 16 is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, quality-focused, and eager to learn.
  • General knowledge of shop practices and equipment.
Basic Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 5+ years’ experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to operate computer software, ERP systems, and manage job clock-ins/outs.
  • Standing for the majority of the shift is required.
