MK Services in Middleton, MA, is growing and adding more positions! We are looking for a Lathe Machinist to join our Flexible 2nd shift!

The CNC Lathe Setup/Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC lathe machines to produce precision parts for aerospace and defense applications. This role requires high technical skill, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
Machine Setup:
  • Set up CNC lathe machines according to specifications and blueprints.
  • Install and adjust tooling, fixtures, and machine controls.
  • Perform first-piece inspections to ensure accuracy and quality.
Operation:
  • Operate CNC lathe machines to produce parts as per production schedules.
  • Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining.
  • Make necessary adjustments to maintain product quality.
Maintenance:
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machine issues promptly.
  • Keep the work area clean and organized.
Quality Control:
  • Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments.
  • Ensure parts meet all specifications and quality standards.
  • Document inspection results and maintain records.
Safety:
  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Report any safety hazards or incidents to the supervisor

Skills Knowledge and Expertise
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical certification in CNC machining or a related field is preferred.
Experience:
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in CNC lathe setup and operation.
  • Experience in aerospace and defense manufacturing is a plus.
Skills:
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Strong understanding of CNC programming and machine controls.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
