Job summary

AMG, Inc. in Lynchburg, VA is seeking a motivated Lathe Machinist to join our Machining Department. You will set up and operate manual and CNC lathes to produce precision parts from customer drawings.

Candidate should have experience reading blueprints with GD&T, be detail-oriented, and able to stand for long periods while lifting up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• U.S. citizenship required; no dual citizenship.
• Previous lathe experience preferred.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
• Ability to read work instructions, blueprints with GD&T and follow specifications.
• Comfortable standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Dependable, punctual, and a positive team player.
• Willingness to learn new skills and cross-train within the department.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual and/or CNC lathes to machine precision parts according to customer drawings and specifications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to determine machining requirements.
• Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, inserts, and cutting tools.
• Perform turning, facing, boring, threading, drilling, grooving, and other lathe operations.
• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other inspection equipment.
• Make adjustments to machine settings and tooling to maintain required dimensions and tolerances.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area and follow all company safety and quality procedures.
• Complete production paperwork and accurately document measurements, quantities, and job information.
