Job summary

Daniels Manufacturing Corporation is seeking a skilled machinist to operate a manual lathe for straight inserts and probes. You will read blueprints, use calipers and micrometers to verify tolerances, and ensure parts meet specifications.

The role requires good manual dexterity, attention to detail, and adherence to safety procedures. The ideal candidate has 2–3 years of machine shop experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and basic knowledge of various materials.

Qualifications

• Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required.
• Visual acuity to read instructions and inspect parts.
• Basic understanding of blueprint reading required.
• Ability to use precision tools (calipers, micrometer, pin gauges) for measurements.
• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate manual lathe equipment for straight inserts and probes.
• Produce parts within tolerances using blueprints and measuring tools.
• Maintain equipment in clean and orderly condition.
• Complete time sheets and work orders as necessary.
• Follow safety rules regarding machine operation and guarding.
• Debur parts with hand tools as needed.
• Lift, push and pull over 25 lbs as required.
• Stand to operate equipment throughout the shift.
• Identify basic cutting tools and work holding for lathes.
• Follow verbal and written instructions on processes.
• Ensure incoming parts meet requirements and identify non-conformances.
• Understand material types (carbon steel, aluminum, brass, copper).

Job Summary:

Run and monitor metal processing equipment per designated specifications, process parameters and job operation detail to conform with specified requirements.

Essential Job Functions:

• Operate manual lathe equipment used in the production of straight inserts and probes.
• Produce parts within required tolerances and specifications using blueprints and measuring equipment
• Maintain equipment in a clean and orderly condition
• Complete time sheets and work orders as necessary
• Follow all safety rules regarding machine operation and proper guarding
• Debur parts with hand tools as needed.
• Must be able to lift, push and pull over 25 lbs.
• Must be able to work while standing to operate equipment throughout the course of the shift
• Identify and understand basic cutting tools and work holding needed for manual lathes
• Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions on established processes and procedures
• Ensure incoming parts are per specific requirements and identify non-conformance and part counts
• Basic understanding of material identification (carbon steel, aluminum, brass, copper, etc)

Requirements

• Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines and visually inspect parts is required
• Basic understanding of blueprint reading required
• Ability to use precision tools such as calipers, micrometer, pin gauges to take accurate measurements is required
• High school diploma or equivalent work experience; completion of vocational training preferred
• One to two (2-3) years machine shop or production experience is preferred
