Job summary

Xeris Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in Chicago is seeking a Late-Stage Analytical Intern to support pharmaceutical formulation, process and method development.

You will assist in executing analytical methods, work independently and with the team to implement methods for small molecule and peptide drug products. This internship requires pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in biology or chemistry, a minimum GPA of 3.0, and returning to your academic program after the internship.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s/Master’s in Biology, Chemistry or related field with at least 2 years completed.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher is required.
• Must return to an accredited program for at least one semester after the internship.
• Interest in pharmaceuticals and science.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Familiarity with lab safety and basic lab instruments; Excel proficiency.
• Completed chemistry/biology or related lab coursework.
• Thrives in a fast-paced, diverse work environment.

Responsibilities

Job Purpose

Job Description: This position assists in the execution of analytical and characterization methods to support pharmaceutical formulation, process, and method development activities. The Late-Stage Analytical Intern will work independently and with other members of the team in implementing analytical methods for small molecule and therapeutic peptide drug product formulations.

Essential Job Functions

• Assist in developing and optimizing various characterization methods.
• Analyze and interpret data.
• Read literature applicable to research and analysis as required.
• Record instrument data, tabulate data, and keep detailed laboratory records.
• Perform method robustness and qualification studies.
• At the conclusion of the internship, prepare a comprehensive review of the internship experience and present to the organization.

Skills and Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's/Masters in Biology, Chemistry or related field and/or has completed a minimum of 2 years of undergraduate studies
• Minimum GPA 3.0
• Returning to academic program at a credentialed institution for at least one semester post-internship
• Strong interest in pharmaceuticals
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency in laboratory safety, basic laboratory instruments (pH, balances, etc.), excel
• Prior class in chemistry, biology, organic chemistry, lab instrumentation related course

Working Conditions

Position may require periodic evening and weekend work, as necessary to fulfill obligations.

Work Location

This role is based in Xeris' Chicago office and requires five days per week in the office.

Pay

The anticipated hourly wage for this position is $24.00 - $30.00. We are committed to offering competitive compensation.

Starting pay is determined based on a variety of factors, including the role, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, education, internal equity, market data, and the location of the role, where applicable.
