Job summary

Capac Elementary School in Capac, Michigan is seeking a Latchkey Aide (PM) Substitute for the ESS program. The role runs Monday through Friday, 3:00–6:00 PM, for 178 days annually, with a starting date in August 2026.

The position provides supervision and safety for students participating in the latchkey program. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma, is able to obtain required clearances, and can demonstrate professional rapport with students, parents, staff, and the community.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required; first aid and CPR certification preferred, but certification can be obtained after hire.
• Clear criminal history checks and DHS clearance required; able to obtain qualifications to meet licensing requirements.
• Ability to develop and maintain a professional rapport with children, parents, staff, and the community.

Responsibilities

• Aids and supports children in the latchkey program while providing a safe, friendly environment.
• Follow through with behavioral management plans and district discipline policies; maintain organized setting of the center.
• Implement district standards of ethics and professionalism; adopt policy changes from administration or state/federal changes.
• Perform duties with physical flexibility, including sitting, standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and repeated motions.
• Complete the required professional development hours (16) and follow licensing requirements.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Aids and supports children in the latchkey program while providing a safe, friendly environment; flexible in responding to the individual needs of children.
• Follow through with prescribed behavioral management plans and district discipline policies; helps to maintain the organized setting of the child care center.
• Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and board of education policies while modeling district standards of ethics and professionalism; implement policy/procedural changes from administration, the board of education, or state/federal changes.
• Must be able to perform the physical demands of this position, which includes sitting, standing, talking, seeing, and hearing. Occasionally, it will be expected to repeat the same hand, arm, or finger motions many times and push or lift up to 50 lbs., such as boxes of books.
• Follow all licensing requirements, including sixteen (16) hours of approved professional development.
• Performs other functions and duties as assigned.
