Job summary

Capac Community Schools in Kentucky is seeking a part-time latchkey assistant to help supervise students before and after school. The role runs 5 hours daily, Monday through Friday, with shifts from 6:00–8:00 am and 3:00–6:00 pm, reporting to the principal.

Start date is as soon as possible, with employment as announced until filled. The position requires a high school diploma and background checks; CPR/first aid certification preferred but trainable on hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; first aid and CPR certification preferred, but must be able to certify upon hire.
• Clear criminal history checks and DHS clearance required; able to meet licensing requirements.
• Ability to develop and maintain a professional rapport with children, parents, staff, and the community.
• Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Aids and supports children in the latchkey program while providing a safe, friendly environment.
• Follow through with behavioral management plans and district discipline policies; help to maintain the organized setting of the child care center.
• Model ethics and professionalism; implement policy changes from administration, the board of education, or state/federal changes.
• Must be able to perform the physical demands of this position, which includes sitting, standing, talking, seeing, and hearing; may lift up to 50 lbs.
• Follow all licensing requirements, including sixteen (16) hours of approved professional development.
• Performs other functions and duties as assigned.
