Job summary

Capac Community Schools seeks an enthusiastic assistant to supervise students in the Latchkey program, supporting before- and after-school activities. The role runs 178 days, about 5 hours per day, typically 6:00–8:00 AM and 3:00–6:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Start date is as soon as possible. The ideal candidate holds a high school diploma, is willing to obtain first aid/CPR certification, and can pass required background checks; DHS clearance is also required.

Qualifications

  • Clear criminal history checks and DHS clearance required; able to meet licensing requirements.
  • Ability to develop and maintain a professional rapport with children, parents, staff, and the community.

Responsibilities

  • Aids and supports children in the latchkey program while providing a safe, friendly environment.
  • Follow through with district discipline policies and behavioral plans; help maintain an organized setting.
  • Model district standards and implement changes from administration or state/federal updates.
  • Perform duties considering physical demands, including lifting up to 50 lbs. and 16 hours of required professional development.

Summary

Qualifications

  • Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Aids and supports children in the latchkey program while providing a safe, friendly environment; flexible in responding to the individual needs of children.
  • Follow through with prescribed behavioral management plans and district discipline policies; helps to maintain the organized setting of the child care center.
  • Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and board of education policies while modeling district standards of ethics and professionalism; implement policy/procedural changes from administration, the board of education, or state/federal changes.
  • Must be able to perform the physical demands of this position, which includes sitting, standing, talking, seeing, and hearing. Occasionally, it will be expected to repeat the same hand, arm, or finger motions many times and push or lift up to 50 lbs., such as boxes of books.
  • Follow all licensing requirements, including sixteen (16) hours of approved professional development.
  • Performs other functions and duties as assigned.
