Job summary

Capac Elementary School in Capac, Michigan is seeking a Latchkey Aide to supervise students before and after school in the Latchkey program, maintaining a safe, friendly environment and following district policies. This part-time role is 178 days, 5 hours daily, Monday through Friday, with shifts 6-8 a.m.

and 3-6 p.m., starting August 2026. Requires a high school diploma; first aid and CPR certification are preferred but can be earned after hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; first aid and CPR certification preferred, but must be able to certify upon hire.
• Clear criminal history checks and DHS clearance required; able to meet licensing requirements.
• Ability to develop and maintain a professional rapport with children, parents, staff, and the community.
• Alternatives to the above qualification as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Aids and supports children in the latchkey program while providing a safe, friendly environment.
• Follow through with prescribed behavioral management plans and district discipline policies; helps to maintain the organized setting of the child care center.
• Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and board of education policies while modeling district standards of ethics and professionalism; implement policy/procedural changes from administration, the board of education, or state/federal changes.
• Must be able to perform the physical demands of this position, which includes sitting, standing, talking, seeing, and hearing. Occasionally, it will be expected to repeat the same hand, arm, or finger motions many times and push or lift up to 50 lbs., such as boxes of books.
• Follow all licensing requirements, including sixteen (16) hours of approved professional development.
• Performs other functions and duties as assigned.
