Job summary

Primary Staffing Inc. is seeking a skilled Laser Technician to support sheet metal fabrication and production operations. You will operate, program, set up, and maintain laser cutting equipment to fabricate parts from drawings and work orders.

Ideal candidates have hands-on laser cutting or sheet metal experience, familiarity with CNC/laser programming and precision measuring tools, and a strong focus on safety, quality, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical certification or trade training preferred.
• Fluent English required.
• Minimum 2+ years of laser cutting or sheet metal fabrication experience.
• Hands-on experience operating laser cutting systems (1 kW and 12 kW).
• Experience with CNC/laser programming, nesting, and setup.
• Understanding of sheet metal materials, cutting parameters, and tooling.
• Ability to read technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders.
• Proficiency with precision measuring tools (calipers).
• Basic computer skills for programming and production needs.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work safely.
• Schedule & Pay: starting at $21/hour; Mon-Fri 6:00 AM-2:30 PM; overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain laser cutting equipment (1 kW and 12 kW).
• Fabricate edge guards, flat goods, custom strikes, custom projects, and stainless steel hinge components.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders.
• Program, set up, and optimize laser cutting machines.
• Adjust cutting parameters to maximize material efficiency and meet production requirements.
• Perform quality inspections throughout fabrication.
• Use precision measuring tools to verify dimensions.
• Identify and troubleshoot production or equipment issues.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Work independently and as part of a team to meet production goals.
• Support continuous improvement and quality control initiatives.

This position is responsible for operating, programming, setting up, and maintaining laser cutting equipment to accurately fabricate sheet metal components. The Laser Technician will work from technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders while ensuring finished parts meet required dimensions, tolerances, quality standards, and production goals.
