Job summary

The role requires reading blueprints, selecting proper laser settings, and collaborating with manufacturing teams to maintain quality, safety, and throughput on the shop floor.

Qualifications

  • Read blueprints and interpret technical drawings.
  • Follow daily production schedules with accuracy.
  • Apply basic math to analyze measurements.
  • Laser set-up experience preferred to ensure efficient operation.
  • Commit to safety and efficient teamwork on the shop floor.

Responsibilities

  • Programming & Nesting: Write/edit programs using IGEMS, MetaCAM, or Feature CAM to maximize sheet metal efficiency.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Verify dimensions and tolerances from drawings and orders.
  • Machine Optimization: Set laser power, gas, focus, and speeds for materials.
  • Troubleshooting: fix cutting errors or software issues to reduce scrap.
  • Quality Control: inspect finished parts with precision tools.
  • Issuing material to jobs: manage material from SL scanner and Kanban.
  • All other tasks requested by management.

Job Summary:

MP Equipment is a leading OEM specializing in advanced food processing equipment, serving the further processing sector of the food industry. We design, manufacture, and support high-performance machinery used for portioning, further processing, and frying food products. The Laser Programmer creates, tests, and optimizes digital cutting paths for CNC laser machines using CAD/CAM software, nests parts to minimize material waste, and ensures components match engineering blueprints.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Programming & Nesting: Write and edit offline or online programs using software like IGEMS, MetaCAM, or Feature CAM, arranging layouts to maximize sheet metal efficiency.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read technical drawings, work orders, and sketches to verify correct dimensions and tolerances.
  • Machine Optimization: Select proper laser power, gas, focus, and speeds for different materials.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose cutting errors or software bugs, adjusting toolpaths to reduce scrap and downtime.
  • Quality Control: Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, or tape measures.
  • Issuing material for jobs: Issue material to jobs using SL scanner and KANBAN material racks.
  • All other tasks that may be requested by management.
Requirements
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Ability to follow and complete daily production schedules.
  • Ability to use basic math to analyze information and measuring equipment.
  • Additional courses in Laser set-up and operation are preferred.
  • Ability to work safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to work on a team and independently.
Education and Experience:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Laser Experience is a must
  • 2-5 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements:
  • Bending and stooping for long periods of time.
  • Sitting and standing for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Lifting over head up to 30 lbs. on a frequent basis.
  • Pushing and pulling on a continuous basis.

Must be able to reliably commute or relocate to Gainesville, GA 30504
