Job summary

Dowding Industries, Inc. is seeking a Laser Operator to run a laser cutting machine on raw steel, inspect parts against blueprints, and prepare them for assembly.

You will perform startup and preventive maintenance, operate the overhead crane, verify first and last pieces for blemishes, and use calipers, micrometers, CMM, and fabervision to ensure accuracy. This role requires a high school diploma or GED, prior manufacturing experience, leadership ability, and strict adherence to safety and

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience in a related role preferred.
• Previous experience leading employees required.
• Able to make fast, accurate decisions relating to production process and equipment.
• Quality standards must be strictly adhered to, so attention to detail is essential.
• Basic understanding of blueprints required.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all safety guidelines and requirements.
• Perform laser startup and PM’s of machine.
• Operate overhead crane.
• Check first and last pieces for quality. Ensure parts are free from blemishes.
• Use pin gauges, calipers, mics, fabervision, and CMM to validate parts to prints.
• Make adjustments such as laser offsets and alignment.
• Stock parts in a safe and orderly manner.
• Clean machine during and before end of shift.
• Make sure all tools are returned to shadow board.
• Other duties as assigned.
