Job summary

Life Fitness / Hammer Strength is seeking a Laser Operator to join our metal fabrication team in Minnesota. The role focuses on laser setup, operation, and product loading/unloading, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and productivity.

You will read blueprints, measure parts, and run the laser computer, ensuring accurate output and timely reporting of shortages or quality concerns. A high school diploma and basic math skills are required; English communication and basic computer literacy

Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing environment in metal fabrication and/or Laser operation.
• Mechanical aptitude and problem solving.
• Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide) using a calculator.
• Read tape measures, blueprints and process sheets in standard and metric.
• Able to communicate in English (spoken, read, write, understand).

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate and adjust machinery according to laser setup sheet and Kanban cards.
• Operate the laser computer.
• Load raw steel to laser and unload finished product.
• Perform visual inspection of raw steel and finished jobs.
• Advise lead/supervisor of shortages or poor quality materials/products.
• Count pieces to ensure no extras or missing parts.
• Tag completed jobs with date, quantity, and producer’s name.
• Report supply needs and equipment breakdowns to lead/supervisor.
• Maintain department equipment and complete daily PM log.
• Complete required paperwork in a timely manner.
• Operate hoist and manual pallet jack.

Requirements

Physical Requirements

• Lift up to 30 lbs frequently and up to 50 lbs occasionally
• Walk, stand, reach overhead, climb stairs and grasp tools as necessary
• Submit to a comprehensive vision exam
• Operate hoist and manual pallet jack

Your base wage will be between $23.00 - $27.88 per hour and includes eligibility for overtime. The actual wage offer will be based on qualifications, experience, location, and other relevant factors. You’ll have the opportunity to participate in the Production Bonus Plan, which provides opportunities to earn additional compensation based on performance metrics. Bonus eligibility is subject to meeting certain production goals and other criteria as outlined. This position is eligible for a $2.00 per hour shift differential for hours worked on 2nd shift, in addition to the base hourly wage.
