Job summary

API Heat Transfer in Dodge County, WI, is hiring a First Shift Laser Operator to manage laser equipment, set up jobs, load materials, and run production programs on time and with quality.

You will read blueprints, adjust cut conditions, inspect dimensions, and perform routine maintenance while contributing to lean manufacturing and safety standards on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of manufacturing experience.
• Ability to read blueprints, perform basic math, and use basic computer tools.
• Strong problem-solving and multitasking skills.

Responsibilities

• Read part drawings, blueprints and work instructions to ensure parts are cut to specifications.
• Set up and operate laser equipment and load/unload material.
• Modify cut conditions, speeds and focus for quality cuts and machine efficiency.
• Measure dimensions with precision instruments to ensure conformance to specs.
• Inspect and maintain safety and housekeeping on the shop floor.
• Perform preventative maintenance and set up future jobs on other lasers when possible.

What You Will Do:

The Laser Operator will manage laser operations including setting up and operating laser, loading and unloading material, and running the required production programs.

• Ensure that customer orders are completed according to schedule, while maximizing machine run time and productivity.
• Read part drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to ensure parts are cut to customer specifications.
• Modify cut conditions, speeds, feeds and focus to ensure quality cut, and optimal machine operation
• Measure and inspect dimensions of in-process and finished product using precision measuring instruments to ensure conformance to specifications for quality.
• Resolve quality and mechanical problems, making minor equipment adjustments as needed.
• Inspect and maintain workplace and equipment for compliance with safety requirements.
• Perform preventative maintenance on a daily and weekly basis.
• Set up future jobs on other lasers while machines are operating and cutting.

What You Bring:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• A minimum 2+ years’ work experience in manufacturing environment.
• Ability to problem solve, multitask, and work independently.
• Ability to read blueprints, proficient math and computer skills.
