Louis Industries, Inc. is seeking a skilled Laser/Machine Operator for daytime shifts in Minnesota. The role involves operating laser and punching machines, loading/editing programs, and maintaining cutting quality at prescribed feed rates.

Responsibilities include performing inspections per work orders, performing maintenance on laser equipment, handling steel materials, and safely using forklifts. A HS diploma or equivalent and 3+ years experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 2 Year Machine Tool or CNC Technical Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate laser and punching machines to produce components.
• Load and edit machine programs to meet specifications.
• Maintain cutting quality at acceptable feed rates.
• Perform first part and random part inspections per work order router.
• Conduct general laser maintenance including startup/shutdown, cleaning, centering, and upkeep of equipment.
• Carry out advanced maintenance such as window/focal depth changes and optical path cleaning.
• Ensure products conform to prescribed quality standards.
• Handle steel raw materials and scrap safely.
• Sort and pallet parts from cut skeletons, then box or containerize.
• Package parts using banding or shrink wrap.
• Safely operate forklift to load/unload material and move parts.
• Use small hand and power tools as needed and follow safety regulations.
• Support process improvement activities.

Job Duties

• Regularly operate laser and/or punching machines
• Load and edit machine programs
• Maintain cutting quality at acceptable feed rates
• Perform first part and random part inspections according to protocol on work order router
• Perform general laser maintenance, including startup/shutdown, window cleaning, nozzle centering, cleaning dust bins, replacing cutting beds, and keeping lasers and work environment clean
• Perform advanced maintenance, including window changing/focal depth, external optical path cleaning and realignment, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical repair
• Assures that all products conform to prescribed quality standards
• Handle assorted steel raw material and steel scrap
• Separate/”pick” parts from skeletons that are cut on the laser and stack onto pallet/containers
• Package parts using banding or shrink wrap, as needed
• Safely operate forklift to load and unload material and move completed parts
• Operate small hand and power tools
• Follow all standard safety regulations
• Support process improvement activities
