Job summary

Ryerson is seeking a Laser Operator for Norlen in Wisconsin. You will set up and operate Amada laser cutting machines, read blueprints, load materials, and inspect parts to ensure accuracy.

You will participate in a registered apprenticeship as part of onboarding, with training on safety, maintenance, and quality standards. Responsibilities include startup/shutdown procedures, material handling with a forklift, routine equipment care, and following all safety policies.

Qualifications

• Requires skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspection and measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
• Minimum 2 years of similar job experience preferred.
• Regular attendance is expected.
• Basic math skills are required.
• Basic computer skills and/or comfort with using a computer.
• Must meet physical requirements for vision, hearing, and mobility.
• Candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload raw materials and finished product using forklifts.
• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and job orders.
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of laser equipment and area.
• Inspect finished parts for accuracy using precision measuring tools.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.

Roles And Responsibilities

• Set up and operate laser cutting machines (Amada)
• Perform daily machine startup and shutdown procedures
• Load and unload raw materials and finished product using forklifts

• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of laser equipment and designated work area
• Inspect finished parts for accuracy using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, etc.
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures

Requirements
