Job summary

Norlen, part of the Ryerson family, is seeking a Laser Operator to set up and run Amada laser cutting machines. The role requires reading blueprints, loading materials with a forklift, and inspecting parts with precision tools. Apprenticeship onboarding and safety compliance are integral to the position.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of similar experience, basic math and computer skills, and is comfortable with shop-floor duties and routine maintenance of equipment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of similar job experience preferred.
• Regular attendance is required.
• Basic math skills and comfort using a computer.
• Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate laser cutting machines (Amada).
• Perform daily machine startup and shutdown procedures.
• Load and unload raw materials and finished product using forklift.
• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and job orders.
• Inspect finished parts for accuracy using calipers, micrometers, etc.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned or changes may occur.
