Job summary

Thermal Transfer Products in Racine, WI seeks a Laser Operator for 1st shift to manage laser operations, set up and run production programs, and load/unload materials. The role emphasizes meeting customer schedules, maximizing machine run time, and maintaining quality through precise reading of drawings and process parameters.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2+ years in manufacturing, capability to read blueprints, and strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Read part drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to ensure parts are cut to customer specifications.
  • Modify cut conditions, speeds, feeds and focus to ensure quality cut, and optimal machine operation
  • Measure and inspect dimensions of in-process and finished product using precision measuring instruments to ensure conformance to specifications for quality.
  • Resolve quality and mechanical problems, making minor equipment adjustments as needed.
  • Inspect and maintain workplace and equipment for compliance with safety requirements.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Set up future jobs on other lasers while machines are operating and cutting.
  • Run manual radial drill.

What You Will Do:

The Laser Operator will manage laser operations including setting up and operating laser, loading and unloading material, and running the required production programs.

  • Ensure that customer orders are completed according to schedule, while maximizing machine run time and productivity.
  • Read part drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to ensure parts are cut to customer specifications.
  • Modify cut conditions, speeds, feeds and focus to ensure quality cut, and optimal machine operation
  • Measure and inspect dimensions of in-process and finished product using precision measuring instruments to ensure conformance to specifications for quality.
  • Resolve quality and mechanical problems, making minor equipment adjustments as needed.

What You Bring:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum 2+ years’ work experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to problem solve, multitask, and work independently.
  • Ability to read blueprints, proficient math and computer skills.
Physical Requirements:
  1. Standing:
    Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8–12 hours per shift).
  2. Walking:
    Frequent walking throughout the production floor.
  3. Lifting and Carrying:
  • Regularly lift and carry up to 25–50 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift heavier items (up to 75 pounds) with assistance or equipment.
  1. Pushing and Pulling:
    Use of manual or mechanical means to push/pull carts, equipment, or materials.
  2. Repetitive Motions:
    Frequent use of hands and wrists for repetitive tasks (e.g., assembling, sorting, packaging).
  3. Manual Dexterity:
    Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to handle small parts or tools.
  4. Climbing:
    Occasional use of ladders or steps to reach equipment or storage areas.
  5. Visual and Hearing Requirements:
  • Sufficient vision (with or without correction) to read labels, safety signs, and equipment gauges.
  • Adequate hearing (with or without aids) to respond to alarms and verbal instructions in a noisy environment.
  1. Environmental Tolerance:
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures (hot, cold, or humid conditions).
  • Exposure to noise, dust, odors, and manufacturing chemicals.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
