Job summary

API Heat Transfer in Iron Ridge, Wisconsin, seeks a First Shift Laser Operator to join the production team. You will set up and operate laser equipment, load and unload material, and run production programs to meet customer specifications.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and 2+ years in manufacturing, with the ability to read blueprints, perform basic math, and solve problems independently. We offer benefits from day one, generous PTO, 11 holidays, and a 401(k) match.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years of manufacturing experience.
• Ability to read blueprints, proficient math and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate laser; load/unload material; run production programs.
• Ensure orders are completed on schedule while maximizing machine run time and productivity.
• Read part drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to ensure parts are cut to customer specifications.
• Modify cut conditions, speeds, feeds and focus for quality cuts and optimal machine operation.
• Measure and inspect dimensions of in-process and finished product using precision measuring instruments.
• Resolve quality and mechanical problems, making minor equipment adjustments as needed.
• Inspect and maintain workplace and equipment for safety compliance.
• Perform preventative maintenance daily and weekly.
• Set up future jobs on other lasers while machines are operating and cutting.

What You Will Do:

The Laser Operator will manage laser operations including setting up and operating laser, loading and unloading material, and running the required production programs.

• Ensure that customer orders are completed according to schedule, while maximizing machine run time and productivity.
• Read part drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to ensure parts are cut to customer specifications.
• Modify cut conditions, speeds, feeds and focus to ensure quality cut, and optimal machine operation
• Measure and inspect dimensions of in-process and finished product using precision measuring instruments to ensure conformance to specifications for quality.
• Resolve quality and mechanical problems, making minor equipment adjustments as needed.
• Inspect and maintain workplace and equipment for compliance with safety requirements.
• Perform preventative maintenance on a daily and weekly basis.
• Set up future jobs on other lasers while machines are operating and cutting.

What You Bring:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• A minimum 2+ years’ work experience in manufacturing environment.
• Ability to problem solve, multitask, and work independently.
• Ability to read blueprints, proficient math and computer skills.
