Job summary

API Heat Transfer is seeking a First Shift Laser Operator to join our production team as we advance lean manufacturing and transform our processes. You will set up, operate, load and unload laser equipment and run production programs to meet customer specs.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma and at least two years in manufacturing, with the ability to read blueprints, perform basic math, solve problems, multitask, and work independently.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 2+ years' work experience in manufacturing.
• Ability to problem solve, multitask, and work independently.
• Ability to read blueprints, proficient math and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate the laser, load and unload material, and run production programs.
• Ensure orders are completed on schedule while maximizing machine run time.
• Read part drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to ensure accuracy.
• Modify cut conditions, speeds, feeds and focus for quality cuts and machine efficiency.
• Measure and inspect dimensions using precision instruments to ensure conformance to specs.
• Resolve quality and mechanical problems, making minor equipment adjustments as needed.
• Inspect and maintain workplace and equipment for safety compliance.
• Perform preventive maintenance daily and weekly as required.
• Set up future jobs on other lasers while machines operate and cut parts.

What You Will Do:

The Laser Operator will manage laser operations including setting up and operating laser, loading and unloading material, and running the required production programs.

• Ensure that customer orders are completed according to schedule, while maximizing machine run time and productivity.
• Read part drawings, blueprints, and work instructions to ensure parts are cut to customer specifications.
• Modify cut conditions, speeds, feeds and focus to ensure quality cut, and optimal machine operation
• Measure and inspect dimensions of in-process and finished product using precision measuring instruments to ensure conformance to specifications for quality.
• Resolve quality and mechanical problems, making minor equipment adjustments as needed.
• Inspect and maintain workplace and equipment for compliance with safety requirements.
• Perform preventative maintenance on a daily and weekly basis.
• Set up future jobs on other lasers while machines are operating and cutting.

What You Bring:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• A minimum 2+ years' work experience in manufacturing environment.
• Ability to problem solve, multitask, and work independently.
• Ability to read blueprints, proficient math and computer skills.
