Description

A laser operator is responsible for operating Trumpf laser cutting machines to achieve precise cutting and shaping of metal sheets and plates according to specific specifications. Working with advanced technology, the operator sets up the machine by inputting the required parameters, positions sheet metal accurately, and oversees the laser cutting process. This role demands a deep understanding of metalworking principles, laser equipment operation, and quality assurance to ensure the accurate production of components used in various industries.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare the laser cutting machine for operation by selecting the appropriate parameters, installing the required lenses or nozzles, and making necessary adjustments to ensure precise cutting angles and dimensions.
  • Production Operation: Operate laser cutting machines to precisely cut and shape metal components according to blueprints and work instructions, as well as company expectations. Utilize secondary production equipment such as spot welders, drill press, tapping machines, CNC saw machines, and PEM hardware insertion machines during extended machine cycle times to ensure maximum productivity and systems output.
  • Material Inspection: Examine raw materials for defects or imperfections that could impact the cutting process. Ensure that materials are of the required quality before initiating production.
  • Tool Maintenance: Maintain and inspect tooling for wear, damage, and proper alignment. Replace or adjust tools as needed to maintain the quality and accuracy of cuts.
  • Quality Control: Use precision measurement devices such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to monitor the production process to verify that each component meets the specified dimensions and tolerances. Make necessary adjustments to machine settings if deviations are detected.
  • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while operating the Laser machine. Maintain a clean and organized work area to minimize safety hazards.
  • Problem Solving: Troubleshoot any issues that arise during the production process, such as machine malfunctions or irregularities in the cutting process. Collaborate with supervisors and maintenance personnel to resolve problems promptly.
