Steel Craft Corp in Wisconsin is seeking a Laser Operator to run flat laser cutting machines, read blueprints, and set up tooling to produce precise steel components. The role requires accuracy, safety, and efficiency in a fabrication environment.

The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of laser cutting experience, strong math and measurement skills, forklift certification, and a commitment to quality and teamwork on the shop floor.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in flat laser cutting operations.
  • Proficiency in math (adding, subtracting, decimals, fractions) and measurement.
  • Ability to read flat blueprints and work instructions.
  • Must obtain internal forklift certification.
  • Experience with Mitsubishi and/or Trumpf laser systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate flat laser cutting machines to cut steel components per specifications.
  • Read blueprints, work orders, and drawings to determine cutting requirements.
  • Monitor machine performance and report malfunctions.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance on laser equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues as needed.
  • Use calipers, micrometers, and other tools to inspect parts for accuracy.
  • Operate forklift to retrieve materials for cutting operations.
  • Log job information into ERP system and complete required paperwork.
  • Collaborate with coworkers to improve processes and safety.

Job description

The Laser Operator is responsible for operating flat laser cutting machines to process steel and other metal components in a steel fabrication environment. This role requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to ensure high-quality cuts while maximizing efficiency and safety. This position will have experience with laser cutting equipment, blueprint reading, and precision measuring tools.Essential Duties and Responsibilities• Operate flat laser cutting machines to cut steel components according to specifications.• Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings to determine cutting requirements.• Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions and report issues.• Perform basic preventative maintenance on laser equipment.• Assist in troubleshooting equipment issues.• Use precision measuring tools such as calipers and micrometers to inspect finished parts for accuracy.• Operates forklift to retrieve materials for laser cutting operations.• Accurately log job information into ERP computer system.• Accurately fill out required operations and quality paperwork.• Work closely with co-workers to improve laser cutting processes and productivity.• Follow company policies, safety protocols, and quality assurance guidelines to ensure compliance with industry standards.• Other Duties as Assigned: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
