Job summary

TOPS Staffing in Petersburg, VA seeks an experienced Laser Machine Operator to run CNC laser cutting equipment on a 2nd or 3rd shift. Training on the daylight shift for about two weeks, then move to the assigned off shift; this is not entry-level and rewards experienced operators with strong earning potential.

You will read blueprints, load heavy steel, monitor production via the HMI, and ensure safety and quality.

Qualifications

Laser Machine Operator Experienced Manufacturing Machine Operators Wanted | $21-$23/hr + $1,500-$2,000 Monthly Production Bonus

TOPS Staffing is looking for an experienced Machine Operator to join a growing metal fabrication operation in the Petersburg, VA area. This is a 2nd or 3rd shift position, will train on daylight for 2 weeks and move to your assigned off shift. This is an experienced operator position — not an entry-level opportunity. What You'll Be Doing

You'll operate CNC laser cutting equipment used to process heavy steel plate while making sure production stays safe, accurate, and efficient.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Operating CNC laser cutting equipment
• Loading and unloading steel using overhead cranes and other material-handling equipment
• Monitoring machine operation and making basic adjustments through the HMI
• Reading blueprints and shop drawings
• Measuring parts and checking dimensions for accuracy
• Inspecting finished parts for quality
• Removing burrs and finishing parts with grinders and hand tools
• Maintaining a clean and safe production area
• Following production and safety procedures

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience operating machinery in a metal fabrication, machining, steel processing, or industrial manufacturing environment
• CNC or other computer-controlled machine experience is strongly preferred
• Ability to read blueprints and shop drawings
• Ability to accurately read a tape measure and perform basic quality checks
• Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
• Overhead crane or forklift experience is a plus
• High school diploma or GED
• Reliable transportation and dependable attendance

The Earning Potential

Starting pay is $21-$23/hour based on experience. + monthly bonus once hired on by client. After approximately 90 days, employees who transition to the client’s payroll become eligible for a monthly production incentive that averages $1,500-$2,000 per month. That means experienced operators have the opportunity to significantly increase their monthly and annual earnings through production performance.
