Job summary

Lennox International is seeking a Laser Machine Operator to operate the laser cutting equipment and ensure accurate program execution in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires reading blueprints, basic math, and willingness to work from 4pm to 3am, with opportunities for overtime and cross-department support as needed.

Qualifications

• Basic computer skills and ability to operate standard equipment.
• Read/write in English sufficient for instructions and safety procedures.
• Familiarity with sheet metal laser cutters desired but not required.
• Willingness to work a 4pm–3am shift and in fast-paced conditions.

Responsibilities

• Operate laser machine and ensure correct cutting programs.
• Select cutting programs and fixtures; adjust focal point as needed.
• Identify and report defects or unsafe conditions to supervisor.
• Read blueprints to verify laser outputs match drawings.
• Lift and move materials, stack parts, and prepare for shipment.
• Assist in other areas during downtime as required.

What Drives Success

The Laser Machine Operator’s primary function is to operate the Laser machine and ensure proper cutting programs.Job Duties:

• Perform typical laser cutting operations.
• Select proper cutting programs and proper fixtures.
• Establish proper stop location, adjust laser beam focal point.
• Correct and clear any errors on the laser.
• Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to supervisor and/or automation specialist.
• Use technical drawing/blueprints to ensure laser program cuts as intended.
• Manually lift raw materials, final products and items packed for shipment.
• Removing parts from sheets and stacking them on skids.
• Packing parts as needed either in boxes or with strapping tape and labeling parts appropriately.
• Other duties as assigned.

What We Are Looking For

Additional Requirements:

• Must be able to read/write in English.
• Basic computer skills.
• Familiarity with sheet metal laser cutters preferred but not required.
• Understanding of different types of materials (Mild steel, Stainless Steel, Aluminum, Galvanized steel).
• Problem solving and critical thinking.
• Work independently and as part of a team.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to switch focus between projects quickly.
• Must be able to assist in other areas/departments when there is downtime.
• Must be able to work 4pm-3am (Monday-Thursday)
• Must be able to use standard hand tools – Tape measure & thickness gauge.
• Must be flexible – OT and weekends are required as needed.

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience

• 1-2 years manufacturing experience
• 1 year of laser operator experience preferred but not required.
• Forklift experience preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements – Essential

• Must be in good physical condition.
• Must have good eye/hand coordination.
• Must be able to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to stand and/or bend for long periods of time (Varied based on daily tasks)
• Must be able to sit, stand, walk and/or bend for long periods of time (Varied based on daily tasks)

Compensation: This is an hourly non-exempt role. The starting pay range for this role and market is between $18.00-$24.00/hour. Factors that may affect starting pay include geography/market, and the skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. Employees in this role are also eligible to earn overtime when they work more than 40 hours in a week (or as otherwise required by state law).
